The center of Pistoia, a beautiful medieval town, is only 3 Km (1,86 miles) far from “Il Fienile”
Torrent Ombrone, reached on foot in 5 minutes, offers the possibility of walking on the bank, recently restored with benches and lawns.
With a quiet 15 minutes-walk you can reach Laghi Primavera (a small fishing lake close to Ombrone), some paths into the surrounding hills and a horsemanship.
With 1 hour drive you can reach Abetone, a mountain town at 1300 meters above sea level, but even with a 20 minutes drive you can be on the hills, at 800 meters.
Pistoia’s hills and mountains offer a lot of possibilities for trekking, excursions, visits to charming mountain villages, as Cutigliano or Piteglio.
From Pistoia’s railway station (4 kilometres – 2,5 miles from Il Fienile) you can reach Florence in 40/50 minutes, Lucca in 1 hour, Pisa in 1 hour and a half, the sea of Viareggio in 1 hour.
